HEFCE welcomes measures to reduce bureaucracy
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has welcomed the announcement today (19 November) by Higher Education Minister, Alan Johnson on measures to reduce bureaucracy following the publication of the Better Regulation Review Group (BRRG) interim report.
Sir Howard Newby, Chief Executive of HEFCE, said:
'We warmly welcome these proposals. They bring support for a number of separate initiatives into the mainstream funding, and will help to keep to a minimum the amount of red tape that universities and higher education colleges have to deal with. We are working closely with the BRRG, and fully endorse their proposals to reduce the number of small funding pots.
'Whilst we have to ensure that public funds are properly accounted for, we believe that most higher education institutions have robust systems in place to manage the money we allocate to them'.
