Foundation degrees report welcomed by HEFCE

HEFCE has warmly welcomed the publication of the Foundation Degree Task Force report into the future of Foundation Degrees. Dr Liz Beaty, Director (Learning and Teaching) said:

'I am delighted that the Foundation Degree Task Force findings confirm the enthusiasm for and commitment to foundation degrees shown by students, universities and colleges, and employers.

'HEFCE is committed to supporting the development and expansion of foundation degrees both through its funding, where we are continuing to provide a 10 per cent premium for foundation degrees, and through the work of Foundation Degree Forward, the body providing a national network of expertise to underpin the development of high quality foundation degrees. We shall be considering the Task Force recommendations carefully to see how we can best respond to them to meet the challenges and embed foundation degrees in the mainstream of higher education.'

The report can be ordered through the Department for Education and Skills' foundation degree web-site.
