Funding of research by government departments
The Treasury has now provided further confirmation on funding of research in HEIs that is commissioned by government departments. In a letter dated 13 February 2004 the Treasury states that: 'Government departments - along with other purchasers of research by universities [and colleges] under contract - should expect to pay 100 per cent of the full economic costs of the research they commission from universities [and colleges]'.
