Aimhigher: National activity - invitation to bid

This letter invites bids for national funding for widening participation activity that forms part of the Aimhigher initiative. It also sets out our plans for administering the activity. The funding will run from August 2004 until March 2006.

Non-education sector organisations that are working in partnership with an Aimhigher Regional Forum or an Area Steering Group are eligible to bid for funding. However, we would anticipate that any bids for dissemination of innovation and good practice would come from individual HEIs, further education colleges or local education authorities on behalf of Aimhigher partnerships.

There is to be an initial bidding exercise and a rolling programme of activity. We have set aside £5 million to support the projects in the initial bidding programme, and a further £2 million is reserved for the rolling programme.

Bids for the initial exercise are to be submitted to HEFCE by 2 June 2004.
