Executive summary

Purpose

1. This publication supports HEFCE 01/15 'Student support funding for higher education institutions 2001-02'. It sets out the:

final allocations for Hardship/Bursary funding and administrative costs for 2001-02 (Annex A)
guidance notes for completion of the electronic monitoring return (Annex B)
sample 2000-01 monitoring return (Annex C)
allocation method for Hardship/Bursary funding (Annex D).

Key points

2. A total of £66,643,000 has been made available for Hardship/Bursary funding in 2001-02. This has increased by £9,000 from the amount published in HEFCE 01/15.

3. Institutions are reminded that we require final monitoring information by 7 November 2001 on the use of 2000-01 student support funding.
