Evaluation of the HEFCE Teaching Funding Method

Summary

This study evaluates HEFCE's current method for allocating its core grants for teaching to universities and colleges. It was commissioned by HEFCE, and undertaken by SQW Limited. The evaluation will inform HEFCE's review of the teaching funding method, and the subsequent consultation on possible changes to it. The main fieldwork task for SQW was interviews with 28 higher education institutions and further education colleges, most of which were undertaken during January and February 2005.
