Accessibility at HEFCE

We aim to be accessible to all individuals who read our communications, contact us or visit us. We aim to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act, both in the letter and the spirit of the law. We encourage organisations with which we are involved to do the same.

Disability funding in higher education

We provide funding for universities and colleges, and not to individual students.

Web-site accessibility

We aim to make the HEFCE web-site accessible to all. To achieve this we have redesigned the site so that it conforms to the Priority 1 and 2 checkpoints of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines. These are internationally recognised standards created by the Worldwide Web Consortium.

The Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 came into force in September 2002 requiring all web-sites in the education sector to be accessible.

If you would like to give feedback on the accessibility or usability of this site, please e-mail webmaster@hefce.ac.uk. All information provided will remain confidential.

Audio and video

We do not have any audio files on this web-site. Most videos on our site have captions that can be turned on using the button on the bottom bar:

Accessible publications

Most documents are provided in Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word or Excel. Please e-mail publications@hefce.ac.uk if you would like a document in another format, such as large print or Braille, or call us at 0117 931 7035.

Visit Adobe for further information about PDFs and accessibility and for free tools that will convert PDFs to plain text or HTML.

Alerts by e-mail

We have several e-mail lists for sending messages to anyone with an interest in higher education. There is no charge for this. Sign up for email alerts
