‌Biography and registered interests

Gurpreet graduated in Physics from Oxford University before completing his Masters in Applied Statistics from Birkbeck College, London University. He then spent over 20 years working initially as a Risk Manager, and then as a Chief Operating Officer, for trading and lending businesses within major investment banks.

While at Credit Suisse (where he was a Managing Director within the Equities Division from 2009 to 2014), Gurpreet joined the University Council for Royal Holloway. This exposure to the Higher Education environment inspired him to retire from full-time banking to pursue and complete a Masters degree with Lancaster University, in the Research, Evaluation and Enhancement of Higher Education.

Gurpreet is now involved in education via his council role at Royal Holloway and also as a trustee of the multi-school academy trust, E-ACT. He also holds non-executive positions with the Valuation Office Agency, the Ministry of Defence and an NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.
