Sara Weller

Biography and registered interests

Sara Weller served as Managing Director of Argos Limited at Home Retail Group for seven years until June 2011. Sara spent her early career at Mars where she started as a graduate trainee and became Consumer Development Director for Europe. From 2000 to 2004 Sara served at Sainsbury's, and became Deputy Managing Director and a main board director of J Sainsbury plc; and previously was Retail Marketing Director of Abbey National plc.

Sara is the Lead Non-Executive on the Board of the Department for Communities and Local Government. She was a Non-Executive Director, and Chair of the Remuneration Committee, on the Board of Mitchells and Butlers plc, the pub-restaurant group from 2003 to 2010, and served on the Government Advisory Committee on Advertising during her time at Sainsbury's. Sara is a visiting Fellow at the Saïd Business School at Oxford University.

Sara is also a member of the HEFCE Enterprise and Skills Advisory Committee.
