Institutional teams and other staff

We have three institutional teams whose role is to support higher education providers across England. We also have teams that support our roles in the development and implementation of policy, and our regulatory activity.

HEFCE's institutional teams

The institutional teams act as the main interface between HEFCE and universities and colleges. The teams are headed by HEFCE associate directors, working closely with regional consultants, and supported by higher education policy advisers and administrative staff.

Policy teams

HEFCE's policy teams develop and implement higher education policy:

The Research Excellence Framework policy team, which is supported by all four UK higher education funding bodies, is also based in HEFCE's Bristol office.

Other teams

The assurance team is led by Ian Parry, Head of Assurance.

The Analytical Services Group (ASG) models, calculates and monitors funding and student number allocations and targets. More generally, it also makes available information to support policy development, implementation and monitoring, and for management and audit purposes, for individual institutions and at regional and national levels. It is led by Mario Ferelli, Head of ASG and Funding.

HEFCE has a range of other support staff including administration, finance, procurement and communications.
