Biography and registered interests
Professor Shirley Pearce, CBE
Shirley Pearce was educated at Norwich High School for Girls and St Anne's College, University of Oxford. She trained as a clinical psychologist at the Institute of Psychiatry, and completed a PhD in Psychology at the University of London. She started her academic career at University College London, moving to the University of East Anglia where she held a number of senior posts including Pro Vice-Chancellor of the health and professional schools, and Dean of the Institute of Health. She served as a non-executive director of the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority and as an inaugural Commissioner of the Healthcare Commission.
Professor Pearce was made a CBE for services to education in the NHS in 2005, and appointed Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University in 2006.
