John Widdowson CBE
John Widdowson is the Principal of New College Durham. He began his career as a lawyer in local government after which he held a series of teaching posts. He chairs the Mixed Economy Group of colleges and is a member of the Board of the Association of Colleges.
He is married with three children and takes an active interest in a range of local organisations.
Date appointed to the Board: 1 January 2009 for three years.
