Million pound boost for modern foreign languages
An additional £1.2 million to support the Routes into Languages initiative.
Routes into Languages
Routes into Languages is a £6.5 million programme that aims to encourage the take-up of modern foreign language courses in England. We have supported the programme since 2006 as part of our wider support for modern foreign languages as a strategically important and vulnerable subject.
About the programme
The programme started in 2006-07 and is funded via our Strategic Development Fund (SDF) until July 2012. It is led by the UK Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS) in partnership with the University Council of Modern Languages (UCML).
