Interim report of the REF bibliometrics pilot exercise

HEFCE is running a pilot exercise in the construction of bibliometric indicators of research quality for the Research Excellence Framework.

This interim report discusses the main potential models for using bibliometrics in the REF tested through the pilot process. The initial outcomes of the analysis and advice and feedback received from the Expert Advisory Groups and pilot institutions are presented. A full report will be published in autumn 2009.
