Qualitative evaluation of the Aimhigher Associates programme: pathfinder

November 2010

HEFCE commissioned York Consulting to undertake a qualitative evaluation of the impact of Aimhigher Associates: pathfinder phase.

The aim of the research was to explore the operation of the pathfinder phase of the Aimhigher Associates scheme and its impact on the partners, Associates and learners involved. Specifically it has explored:

  • how the Associate pathfinder has operated including delivery models, logistics of engagement and learner selection;
  • the impact on:
    • the institutions involved – schools, colleges and HEIs
    • the Associates
    • participating learners (for example learner motivation, attainment and progression).
