Continuous improvement in knowledge transfer and exchange
To ensure value for money and public accountability, we are committed to enabling a culture of continuous improvement to be embedded in higher education institutions (HEIs). This includes working with the HE sector to achieve improvement in organisational performance in third stream activity and to support the development of individual knowledge transfer (KT) and knowledge exchange (KE) professionals.
We actively seek ways to work in partnership with the HE sector and sector-led KT bodies on continuous improvement. We also strive to take a strategic approach, ensuring that our efforts add value to what the sector and others seek to achieve. In this way we support a diversity of approaches to KT/KE throughout the HE sector and across the spectrum of business and community engagement.
As part of our commitment to supporting continuous improvement in the third stream, we:
- disseminate information from HEIF formula plans and project proposals for the wider interest and development of the HE sector
- invest in the development of training and continuous professional development for KT/KE practitioners. We have made grants to support the AURIL CPD programme and Praxis Knowledge Transfer training
- support the development of standards for KT professionals working in HE, business and the community, such as the Institute for Knowledge Transfer.
