Oxford Brookes University

Delivering what employers need

The project aims to refocus the university’s mission to become a business-facing institution.

It seeks to realise this ambition by offering employers a single integrated point of access to the university that can act with greater flexibility. This will streamline the university’s full range of services available to businesses and tailor them to business needs.

This model also has the advantage that it gives the university room to deliver flexible learning and accreditation. It will include work-based learning, online learning, forms of distance learning, bite-sized learning programmes, and portable, formal qualifications which value prior experiential learning.

The project will concentrate on responding to employer needs for higher level skills in seven market sectors: Automotive and motorsport engineering; The Built Environment; Business, Professional and Government Services; Creative Media; Education, Health and Social Care; Education; Health and Social Care; and Life Sciences.
