Strategic Development Fund criteria

The overall purpose of the SDF is to help us meet our aims and objectives, including the aim to sustain a high quality higher education (HE) sector. Within this main purpose, the following three broad priorities are the criteria for the SDF until 2008. These are:

  • The development of substantial collaborative arrangements.

  • Strategic change or development in institutions where they build on institutional strengths and/or provide benefits to the wider HE sector.

  • Projects where the scale or degree of risk would be too great for a single institution to undertake, but where the outcomes would provide significant benefits to the sector and meet our strategic priorities.

We periodically identify specific priorities to advance our strategic aims and objectives through the SDF (such as employer engagement in HE). We aim to further these priorities via specific priority programmes. HEIs will be kept informed about these via their institutional teams.
