The key opportunities identified are in the governance and planning of the TRAC process, and in the design and operation of the TRAC process.

The guide also explores whether earlier reporting of TRAC(T) and Annual TRAC could be achieved. Bringing forward the reporting of TRAC(T) to align with Annual TRAC was viewed as a useful and achievable step.

There was more resistance to earlier reporting of Annual TRAC but, with sufficient planning and leadership, this should be possible over time.

A reflection was that a decision from the funding councils to bring forward TRAC reporting would be the ultimate catalyst, although the funding councils had different accountability reporting deadlines.
