This summary was submitted by University of Birmingham
Birmingham University's bid to become a Centre for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning in Mental Health stems from collaboration between its 6 Schools of Education, Health Sciences, Medicine, Public Policy, Psychology, and Social Sciences. It is founded upon:
- the need to develop a community of interdisciplinary mental health practice that trancends the boundaries of higher education, professional territories and health and social care employers
- A track record in providing a range of excellent inderdisciplinary mental health teaching and learning opportunities to more than 2000 students
- A dynamic partnership with internal and external collaborators including a mental health service user lead network (SURESEARCH), the Heart of England mental health research hub, the mental health in higher education (mhhe) and National Health Service University.
