Evaluation of CETLs

In February 2007, we commissioned the Centre for the Study in Education and Training at Lancaster University, in partnership with the Institute of Education Technology at the Open University to evaluate the CETL programme, which will cover the CETLs that were announced in January 2005. A summary report of this interim evaluation is now complete.

2005-2010 CETL programme formative evaluation: Summary report

The evaluation focused on the development of CETLs between 2005-2007. We intend to commission a further evaluation that will cover development to 2010.

In parallel, each CETL undertook its own evaluation. The CETLs completed these self-evaluation reports by the end of July 2007; these then contributed to the phase one programme evaluation that reported in December 2007. We published guidance to assist CETLs in their self-evaluation (see the download below). In June 2007 we updated this guidance following discussion with the evaluation team and individual CETLs to reflect our decision to allow CETLs to produce a self-evaluation report that is appropriate for their individual contexts. We provided an example of a reporting structure, but we did not expect CETLs to use it.
