This is an annual survey of higher education institutions about students on recognised higher education courses.
The data:

provides an early indication of the number of HE students studying in the academic year 2011-12

enables us to monitor the achievement of funding agreement targets for 2011-12

informs the allocation of teaching funds for 2012-13.
