The future for open access and the move towards open data conference will focus on key open access implementation issues, as well as looking forward to next steps for policy in light of the Government's stated aim of adopting an open data culture for publicly funded research.

The event is timed to follow the publication of Research Councils UK's review of the impact of open access so far, expected in early 2015.

Delegates will discuss:

  • how universities, academics and publishers can maximise the potential of open access
  • how to raise awareness of open access among the public and businesses
  • ways forward for sharing best practice across the sector
  • how open access has been implemented since the Finch review.

Representative: Dr Steven Hill, Head of Research Policy, HEFCE (Guest of Honour)
