Invitation to tender for second stage of UK Higher Education Mall

A new internet site for UK higher education is being planned for the millennium. Based on the concept of a virtual shopping mall, the site will provide a worldwide showcase for the diversity and quality of UK higher education. The mall will be aimed at a wide range of users, including potential students, lifelong learners, overseas interests, researchers, industry and commerce. It will provide easy access to the wealth of opportunities in higher education.

The site is being planned by a partnership. The UK HE Mall steering group includes representatives from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals, the Standing Conference of Principals, UK higher education funding bodies, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service and the British Council.

The group invites tender proposals for the second stage of the project which involves developing a robust and well-evaluated business plan as a basis for securing procurement of the mall operator, and the development of management arrangements and financial support.
