The impact of a higher education qualification
on career progression in the hospitality industry

Invitation to tender

The joint industry-higher education Review of hospitality management (BHA, CHME, HCIMA & HEFCE, April 1998) identified the need for further research into the career routes of managers in the hospitality industry. It proposed the joint sponsorship of a prototype for tracking back the careers of managers in the industry, to identify the influence of qualifications on their progression. A steering group, under the chairmanship of Professor Clive Booth, is taking forward the recommendation, with sponsorship from The Savoy Educational Trust, the British Hospitality Association, the Hotel & Catering International Management Association, the Higher Education Funding Council for England and potentially other industry sources.
