On 29 August the UK Border Agency revoked London Metropolitan University's licence to sponsor students from outside the European Union. This unprecedented decision has significant implications for the university and its students.
That same day Universities Minister, David Willetts, announced the formation of a task force to support the students affected by the decision, and has asked me to lead it. It has met twice. My first priority in this work will be to ensure that the interests of the university’s students are protected through this time.
The task force’s membership includes representatives from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Universities UK, the UK Border Agency, the National Union of Students, and London Metropolitan University.
The London Metropolitan University (LMU) task force web page gives the latest news on this developing situation.
