Sustainable development consultation seminars

04 July 2008

Three consultation seminars held on the 4, 8 and 16 July 2008.

As part of the public consultation on HEFCE's 2008 sustainable development action plan HEFCE held three consultation seminars. The seminars followed the same themes and format and included the HEFCE view from a senior management speaker, a keynote institutional speaker, and an open forum discussion drawing on questions raised during breakout sessions. This consultation contributed to 'Sustainable development in higher education: 2008 update to strategic statement and action plan' (HEFCE 2009/03).'

Objectives

The objectives were to:

  • share experiences of sustainable development and discuss the roles and opportunities open to universities
  • provide a forum for delegates to discuss HEFCE's forthcoming sustainable development action plan.

Who attended?

We invited institutions to send several representatives. We suggested that they included a governor, and two individuals with senior management responsibility for academic and non-academic activity.
