Wednesday 9 November 2011 at Brunei Gallery, London
HEFCE's annual meeting was attended by chairs of the governing bodies of many universities and colleges, and other delegates with an interest in higher education.
Delegates heard presentations exploring the state of higher education in England and HEFCE's role in implementing the Government's reforms to higher education. On a day when students were voicing their concerns over tuition fee increases with a march through London, there was discussion of HEFCE’s proposed role as 'student champion’. Other issues raised included institutional autonomy and competition, regulation, and support for strategically important and vulnerable subjects.
