HEFCE's annual conference took place in London and was attended by heads of many of the HEFCE-funded higher education institutions as well as leaders of partner organisations.
This year's conference looked at the balance of funding between the state and individual graduates, with discussion about the public benefits of higher education and the individual reward for each student.
Liam Burns, Sir Alan Langlands and David Willetts spoke, and there were presentations by Professor Lord Winston, Frances Cairncross and Rana Mitter.
