HEFCE welcomes fair access appointment

HEFCE has welcomed the appointment of Professor Sir Martin Harris as the first Director of Fair Access to Higher Education.

Sir Howard Newby, Chief Executive of HEFCE, said:

'We are delighted with the appointment and look forward to working with Martin Harris who is widely respected in the sector and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the post. We are committed to working with the Office for Fair Access towards widening participation in a way that does not add to institutional burden and respects the autonomy of universities and colleges.'
