HEFCE has awarded the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Europe £1.5 million to provide a dedicated programme of training and support to institutions participating in the matched funding scheme for voluntary giving.
CASE will run a three-year capacity building and training programme from 2009, available to the 153 participating institutions, using a suite of training tools and facilities. The programme will address the full range of fund-raising experience, and target professionals at all levels of the institution.
Professor David Eastwood, Chief Executive of HEFCE, said:
'The matched funding scheme for voluntary giving aims to generate increases in donations across the spectrum of English higher education, not just to those with a tradition of fundraising. This is a unique opportunity for universities and colleges to make a step-change in fundraising training and I am delighted that CASE Europe will be working closely with the sector to provide high quality practical and strategic development support. We look forward over the coming years to seeing the fruits of this important initiative.'
The matched funding scheme is a government-led initiative that aims to increase fund-raising activity and philanthropy in universities, by matching eligible gifts to participating institutions through a fund of £200 million.
