Research Excellence Framework moves to pilot phase

Development of the new Research Excellence Framework (REF) is moving ahead with a pilot exercise using the bibliometric techniques that will underpin this new approach to the funding and assessment of research.

Details of the pilot phase and the other work that is ongoing to develop the REF can be found in HEFCE circular letter 13/2008 published today.

More information about the REF can be found in the analysis of responses to the REF consultation. The REF will replace the Research Assessment Exercise.
