The Committee supports both the Board and the Chief Executive in his role as Accounting Officer, by giving them independent assurance about corporate governance, internal control and risk management. The Committee's remit includes both HEFCE and those institutions and bodies that receive HEFCE funding. We have improved the Committee's effectiveness by increasing its membership and by ensuring closer communication with the Board.
The appointment is unpaid but we pay expenses.
