National Scholarship Programme will support access and social mobility

The Deputy Prime Minister has today outlined the proposed shape and scope of the National Scholarship Programme.

The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has asked HEFCE and the Office for Fair Access (OFFA) to work with them to develop guidance for universities and colleges on the programme, which begins in 2012-13.

The guidance will be published in March, and HEFCE has been asked to publish nominal allocations at the same time.

HEFCE will now work with BIS, OFFA and institutions to implement the programme effectively.
