Government publishes response to HE consultations

HEFCE and the Student Loans Company (SLC) have received a letter from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) following the publication of the Government's response to the white paper ‘Students at the Heart of the System’ and the BIS technical consultation ‘A new fit for purpose regulatory framework for higher education’.

The letter sets out the next steps in the Government’s higher education reform programme. It asks HEFCE, in its lead oversight role, to work with the SLC and other sector bodies to ensure that the reforms are implemented in a timely and efficient way. HEFCE welcomes the consultation responses and the letter as a basis for further action and these will be considered in detail at the next meeting of the HEFCE Board on 12 July 2012.
