The fund supports museums, galleries and collections in the higher education sector that have research significance beyond their home institutions. We currently provide over £10 million to support 31 university museums and galleries.
The review will establish the fund’s continued fitness for purpose and set priorities and future funding levels from 2017-18 onwards.
Diane Lees who will chair the review has extensive experience in the museums sector. She is a member of the South Bank and Bankside Cultural Quarter Directors Forum, the Women Leaders in Museums Network, and the Arts Council’s external advice panel. Diane also serves as a judge for the Museums and Heritage Awards and chairs the National Museum Directors’ Council. In April 2014 she was appointed to the University of Lincoln’s Board of Governors, and in January 2015 to the University of Oxford Humanities External Advisory Board. In December 2014, Diane was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list for services to museums.
