1. This document lists the publications produced by the HEFCE in the 1999 calendar year.

Electronic access to documents

2. Council documents can be accessed electronically on the World Wide Web at http://www.hefce.ac.uk under ‘Publications’. Some publications are not printed and are only available from our web-site. These are identified in the list below.

Electronic mailing list: admin-hefce

3. We use an electronic mailing list (admin-hefce) to communicate with universities and colleges, and others with an interest in higher education. Admin-hefce is used for sending messages from the Council, and updates about publications available on the web-site. It does not operate as a discussion list.

4. To join admin-hefce, send an e-mail message to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk. Do not put anything in the subject field, and in the body of the message just put the words: 'join admin-hefce your first name and your last name' (for example, join admin-hefce Jane Brown).

Council Briefing

5. We produce a newsletter, Council Briefing, eight times a year. This gives a digest of our activities and initiatives, and lists published and forthcoming documents. Copies of the newsletter are sent to all the institutions we fund. Readers can also subscribe individually, free of charge. Simply contact the HEFCE at the address below.

7. Documents are free unless otherwise stated. Orders for priced publications must be accompanied by payment (cheque or credit card) if the total value is less than £50. We can invoice you for orders of over £50. All publication orders are sent by second class post or Parcel Force, at no extra charge. Delivery takes 72 hours. Higher education in further education colleges: guidance to colleges on funding options 99/36 June Sets out the options for further education colleges to obtain funding from the HEFCE for their higher education programmes. Explains how we will incorporate within HEFCE funding methods the HE provided by FECs, in a way which will best support quality and standards.
Higher education in further education colleges: code of practice on indirectly funded partnerships 99/37 June Invites comments on a draft code of practice for indirectly funded partnerships (franchises) entered into by higher education institutions and further education colleges.
Additional student numbers for 1999-2000: outcome of bids 99/38 June Announces the outcome of the bids for additional student places and funds for 1999-2000. We allocated 44,928 student places in 89 higher education institutions and 133 further education colleges.

Funding of specialist performing arts institutions 99/41 June Outlines the advice of the Performing Arts Review Panel on funding of four specialist performing arts institutions: Central School of Speech and Drama, Dartington College of Arts, the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and Rose Bruford College.
