Annual conference 2006 and annual meeting 2005

I am writing to give you early notice that next year's HEFCE annual conference will take place at Warwick Conferences, 10-11 April 2006. As in previous years, the conference will provide a forum for the heads of universities and colleges to discuss some of the major developments in higher education. We will be sending you further details about the annual conference in due course and hope that you will be able to attend.

We also plan to hold our next annual meeting at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in London. This meeting is primarily for chairs of governing bodies and other organisations with an interest in higher education, in order to promote a wider understanding of our role. Feedback from last year's event was again positive: those present found the meeting useful in understanding how HEFCE is preparing for variable fees and other priorities for the future. We plan to hold the meeting at the RCOG again, on 4 November 2005.

I attach for your information a copy of the invitation that I will be sending to the chair of your governing body in early September.
