Formal consultation on the draft HEFCE 2006-11 strategic plan

1.    I am writing to invite you to contribute to the formal consultation on our draft strategic plan for 2006-11.

2.    We have placed great importance on engagement with our stakeholders in the development of our 2006-11 plan. We were particularly pleased to receive 80 responses to the pre-consultation on our outline strategic plan, which ran from 11 July to 2 September 2005. An analysis of the responses is on our web-site. We have also benefited from meetings and conference discussions with our stakeholders, as well as feedback from other formal consultations on policy issues (such as our consultation on accountability for higher education institutions). These strands have informed the evolution of the 2006-11 draft plan.

3.    We launched the formal consultation on 18 November 2005, and invite responses by 13 January 2006. The draft plan can be found on our web-site under Publications (reference HEFCE 2005/45). Please send comments to stratplan@hefce.ac.uk.

4.    We will consider the responses to the formal consultation before publishing the final plan in April 2006. We hope that the plan will represent a widely shared vision for higher education over the next five years.
