Executive summary

Purpose

1.    This document lists the funding allocated through the second round of the Higher Education Innovation Fund over the two years 2004-05 to 2005-06. It also provides details of the assessment and award process.

2.    The fund supports activities in higher education institutions to increase their capability to respond to the needs of business and the wider community, where this will lead to identifiable economic benefits. The initiative is a partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry/Office of Science and Technology, the Department for Education and Skills and HEFCE.
