Higher Education Students Early Statistics Survey 2005-06

This document asks institutions to complete the annual survey of full-time equivalent student load on recognised higher education courses. The data will give an early indication of the number of higher education students studying in the academic year 2005-06; enable us to monitor the achievement of the funding agreement targets for 2005-06; and, with data supplied to the Higher Education Statistics Agency, inform our allocation of teaching funds for 2006-07.

Executive summary

Purpose

1.    This document asks higher education institutions (HEIs) to complete the annual survey of full-time equivalent student load on recognised higher education (HE) courses.

Key points

2.    The data will:

  1. Give an early indication, including for government planning purposes, of the number of HE students studying in the academic year 2005-06.
  2. Enable us to monitor the achievement of the funding agreement targets for the academic year 2005-06.
  3. Together with data supplied to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), inform our allocation of teaching funds for the academic year 2006-07.

3.    This document provides:

  1. Guidance notes for completing the Higher Education Students Early Statistics Survey 2005-06 (HESES05).
