Figure 3 shows a detailed breakdown of 2009-10 income by activity and partner. Contract research is the largest indicator over all at £983 million while income from IP is the least at around £58 million. SMEs engage more consultancy than the services and public and third-sector organisations account for over half of contract research, consultancy and continuing professional development.
