Support for research income from charities

We provide additional support for research that universities and colleges carry out on behalf of charities. The funding amounted to approximately £98 million in 2010-11.

The funding relates to charity research income which has been awarded through peer review and open competition. It applies to departments in universities and colleges that are also eligible for mainstream QR grant.
