Joint Research Equipment Initiative (JREI)
The Competition B of the JREI has now been wound up and there will not be a funding round in 2001. Competition A of the JREI is running in 2001 and will be funded solely by the six UK research councils; forms and details are available to download from their individual websites.
Purpose of initiative
The Joint Research Equipment Initiative (JREI) is an annual competition run by the Research Councils, the Higher Education Funding Councils for England, Scotland and Wales, and the Department of Education for Northern Ireland (DENI). The aim of JREI is to contribute to the physical research infrastructure and to enable high-quality research to be undertaken, particularly in areas of basic and strategic priority for science and technology, such as those identified by Foresight.
