Libraries review: Research Support Libraries Programme

This UK-wide programme developed and implemented key proposals from the Anderson Report, which arose from the review of higher education libraries led by Sir Brian Follett (1993).

The programme comprised both new work and work building on a related funding initiative, Specialised Research Collections in the Humanities. The four strands were:

  • supporting access to major holdings libraries
  • collaborative collection management projects
  • support for humanities and social sciences research collections
  • targeted retrospective conversion of catalogues

A steering group provided strategic direction for the programme; the membership and terms of reference are available. A programme office at the University of Edinburgh co-ordinated programme-related activities.

Further information is available on the Research Support Libraries Programme web-site.
