Promising Researcher Fellowship Scheme
The Promising Researcher Fellowship Scheme enables talented researchers in non-research intensive departments to spend time working in research intensive departments. Its value is £10 million in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
This scheme was introduced in response to the Government's White Paper 'The Future of Higher Education'.
Taking the Better Regulation Review Group's recommendations into account, as well as results of consultation with the sector, the scheme has been incorporated in our Rewarding & Developing Staff initiative. As part of these arrangements institutions have been asked to consider means of identifying and supporting promising researchers working in departments with a research rating of 4 or below.
Further information is available in 'Rewarding and developing staff in HE - round 2' (HEFCE 2004/03) and the earlier consultation document (HEFCE 2003/38).
