Libraries Review: Specialised research collections in the humanities

In 1994 the Joint Libraries Review Group Report (Follett Report) recommended that bids should be invited for recurrent non-formula funding to support specialised research collections in the humanities (see HEFCE Circular 35/94). In 1994-95 funding was allocated on a non-recurring basis and focused on the areas of conservation, cataloguing of collections and preservation (see HEFCE Circular 5/95).

The second stage of the initiative focused on these same areas and additionally funded publicity and promotion of the collections (see HEFCE Circular 14/95).

The initiative ended in 1999.
