HEFCE-funded project wins award
Harper Adams University College has been presented with one of the first ever Renewable Energy Infrastructure Awards. It won the inaugural Electricity Facility Award for its anaerobic digestion plant, which was part funded by HEFCE's Revolving Green Fund.

Green Gown Award winners 2011 announced
The winners and highly commended awards for the Green Gown were announced at the annual gala awards evening in London on 3 November 2011. 13 institutions received winners awards, with a further 18 institutions highly commended.

University of Bradford record highest ever BREEAM score
'The Green' at University of Bradford has been awarded the highest ever BREEAM rating for any building. At 95.05% this is the highest accredited award for sustainable development and operation. The development is the only BREEAM 'Outstanding' student accommodation in the country.

University of Bristol awarded international environmental accreditation
The university was recently awarded two international environmental accreditations for significantly reducing its impact on the environment. The two awards were an environmental management system standard, and a carbon and emissions management and reduction standard.

Entries for 2011 Green Gown Awards now being accepted
The deadline for universities and colleges to submit their stage 1 applications to the 2011 Green Gown Award is Friday 15 July 2011. There are 13 categories at this year's awards, focusing on areas including carbon reduction, energy efficient construction, and Green ICT. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 3 November 2011 in Covent Garden, London.

A new research report, 'First year attitudes towards, and skills in, sustainable development' has recently been published. The report was commissioned by the Higher Education Academy and undertaken by NUS Services.

Salix Energy Efficiency Loans Scheme 2 announced
Salix has announced a further round of funding for its Salix Energy Efficiency Loans Scheme (SEELS). The scheme allows public sector bodies, including higher education institutions, to apply for an interest free loan to finance up to 100 per cent of the costs of energy saving projects if the project meets certain criteria. Applications must be received by 31 March 2011 and the scheme will operate on a first come first serve basis.

The HEFCE-funded Reuse in Halls project run by the London School of Economics (LSE) has recently released a short video targeted at university and college senior management teams. The film identifies the simple steps for delivering successful reuse schemes in halls of residence.
