Teesside University

Building the future

'Building the future' is at the vanguard of the Teesside University's ambition to create an employer-facing institution, attuned to the higher-level skills needs of employers.

By 2010-11 it will deliver programmes to up to 3000 employees.

The three investment themes of the project provide the framework for a step-change in high-level skills provision and institutional culture. They are:

  • embedding workforce development as a core university academic offer through investment in people, products and delivery infrastructure
  • creating a significant new role for Teesside Business School as a major provider of professional development programmes to respond to economic and business needs
  • developing a lead role in the high-level workforce development of the process industries.

The project will align workforce development with the university's enterprise activity to ensure an integrated business-solutions approach. It will also build on the university's strengths in leadership and management, process, digital and creative industries, and public sector development to create a distinctive employer offer, ensuring that existing good practice and expertise inform our institutional approach.
