The project is designed to help the university move from a wide range of short-term links with employers to a more focused and sustainable arrangement that will double the number of workforce students.
These changes will follow a 'hub and spoke' model. The university's academic schools are in the best place to understand and respond to employer needs. They will therefore act as the 'spokes', providing direct services to employers. The 'hub' will coordinate, manage and assure the quality of this activity through specialist support mechanisms.
University-wide business and product-development teams will extend the range of support to public and private sector employers. These products will include workforce development, research and consultancy, and enterprise support and knowledge exchange.
